YOGA STYLES & LEVELS
ASHTANGA YOGA
A powerful, energetic, flowing form of yoga developed by Sri K Pattabhi Jois, in which a series of postures are linked dynamically by the breath. The practice builds heat in the body, detoxifying and purifying the entire system while strengthening, toning and enhancing flexibility in the body.
GENTLE YOGA
Sometimes known as Hatha Yoga, this is a gentle, holistic approach to yoga postures, yogic breathing, relaxation and meditation. Students are guided mindfully and slowly through a variety of yoga poses, cultivating awareness of the body and the breath. Calming, centering and restorative. Particulary suitable for those who want to increase their mobility and flexibility or for those seeking relief from chronic ailments and injuries.
VINYASA, ASHTANGA VINYASA OR HATHA FLOW YOGA
Often based on the Ashtanga system, these flowing classes link postures with the breath in a strong and challenging physical practice that is designed to build heat, strength, flexibility and concentration. Each class follows a different sequence, often to music, creating a sustained meditative flow.



HOT YOGA
The Yoga Room have invested in special Ceramic Longwave Infrared Heaters which are widely regarded as the most therapeutic heat available in the world. Warming the body in the same way as natural sunlight, this type of radiant heat is used by physiotherapists and in therapeutic saunas to heal and repair muscle tissues. Infrared therapy has also been shown to be provide analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic capabilities. It balances the nrevous system and aids body tissue regeneration. This specialised thermal heating system has been used in Japan since the sixties mainly by medical practitioners. These heaters are used in hospitals to heat new born babies. Our Hot Yoga classes at the Yoga Room are taught by trained Bikram and Hot Yoga teachers with a view to providing a unique healing environment. We aim to offer a therapeutic space to nourish and renew your body, mind and soul. And it's the perfect antidote to the Irish climate!

ANUSARA YOGA
Developed by founder John Friend in the United States, the popularity of Anusara yoga seems to be spreading to all corners of the globe. Often referred to as 'yoga of the heart', Anusara is characterised by an focus on alignment and form with the inner experience of the practice emphasised through the contemplation of certain themes.
IYENGAR YOGA
Based on the teachings of Mr BKS Iyengar, the emphasis of this style of yoga is cultivating proper physical alignment. Step by step students are guided safely and deeply into postures. Yoga props are sometimes used to cultivate longer holds in poses.
PREGNANCY YOGA OR PRE-NATAL YOGA
In a supportive and nurturing environment this class will help reduce the aches and pains that can accompany pregnancy while helping to tone and prepare the body and mind for birth. Annemare and Lynn are both experienced teachers and mothers and their classes teaches gentle yoga poses and breathing techniques to cultivate health and calmness for both mother and child.
MUM & BABY YOGA
Special class to nurture yourself while you are with your baby. Ease fatigue, relieve aches and pains, re-tone muscles. Rest and revitalize. Open to babies up to 6 months.
MEDITATION
Meditation has been shown to be a powerful tool to release and manage stress and to help maintain a healthy balance of body and mind. By learning and practicing simple meditation and yogic breathing techniques the mind becomes more peaceful and healthy, creating a calmer more balanced state of being. These tools when applied regularly create an awareness of life grounded in deep meaning and authenticity.
INTRO TO YOGA
A comprehensive four-week course designed to introduce participants to the basic principles and practices of yoga. Participants will learn key yoga poses, basic yoga breath awareness, gentle meditative techniques and a background to yoga practice and philosophy. Each class will focus on a different school, or style, of yoga so participants can decide which approach best suits them.
YOGA RELAXATION
Deep, guided, relaxing meditation. Lying comfortably on the floor, participants are guided through a deeply relaxing and thoroughly rejuvenating meditation. This ancient technique, also known as Yoga Nidra, simultaneously relaxes and revitalises the entire system leaving you completely refreshed.
PILATES
Pilates is a unique system of body conditioning that focuses on developing core strength and using the abdominal muscles to control different movements and postures. Muscles are stretched and strengthened, building tone throughout the body and improving flexibility, balance, breathing, posture and alignment.

INTRO TO YOGA
Recommended for students of all ages and fitness levels. A comprehensive four-week course to introduce participants to the basic principles and practices of yoga. New to Yoga? Find out more...

OPEN Suitable for all levels and experience.

LEVEL 1
An introductory level for beginners and those seeking a gentler practice. The focus is on learning proper alignment through key yoga poses and developing body and breath awareness.


LEVEL 1-2
Both beginning and continuing students are welcome to this class.

LEVEL 2

Developing mindfulness and inner awareness. Further strength, flexibility and stamina will be required as more advanced yoga postures are introduced. Students must have a solid foundation in sun salutations and basic standing poses.

LEVEL 3
For experienced students to work on more challenging postures and techniques. Students must have knowledge of most commonly practiced asanas and pranayama techniques. Students must have attended Level 2 classes (or their equivalent elsewhere).
